Check out my Etsy Shop!
Knotilyco Crochet was founded during the first lockdown in 2020 to share patterns, tips, and tricks that I gathered during my crafting journey.
Handmade with love...something we hear or see every day on Etsy and yet it remains so powerful, letting a part of someone's life and time become a beautiful gift for yourself or your loved ones.
I design and make crochet artisan items for home decor, as well as fashion accessories. Working on intricate blankets, rugs and pillow covers brings me the greatest joy, especially if the motifs represented have a story weaved through time and different cultures.
My story begins like many others, on Christmas day at the witching hour. I look at all the wonderful presents before me and see the eyes of the one who sent them. Being far away, always between countries and unable to visit my friends often enough makes my heart sink even further. I wish more than ever to be able to be there for them and a part of all the special moments that make life memorable.
I was always afraid that I am not creatively inclined and that even if I try it would be an exercise in futility. But the next day I ordered a crochet kit and never stopped ever since. Sweaters, blankets, baby toys, shawls, intricate patterns with obscure motifs...I don't think I can ever stop. Oh and did I mention the serotonin rush of choosing yarn ....so much yarn! Since data visualisation is more my thing, loving and exploring all the yarn colour combinations came naturally. My presents to loved ones have a little bit of me imprinted in them and I feel I am more than ever a part of their life. I also successfully encouraged many of them to explore their creative side and try knitting, crochet or anything else and join me on my journey.
I am now embarking on a new adventure of exploring art secrets and reasons behind motif choices in different cultures, attempting to recreate with crochet some of the patterns prominent in their history.
Wish me luck and I hope you enjoy my creations, from multicolour shawls and hats to seasonal decorations and (hopefully) soon home decorations with special motifs with a story from forgotten times!
In the long term, I hope to incorporate traditional motifs from different cultures into crochet patterns and spread the love of history and crafting!
